Steps to Take to Stop JealousyJealousy is a natural emotion felt by someone who feels that his/ her possession is being threatened. For some people, they feel jealous when they feel that they are competing with the attention of someone. Others feel jealous out of insecurities. One common ground is that it is triggered by having low self-esteem. Wiser people say that it is a manifestation of love and it only becomes harmful when it starts to bring damage or destruction to someone’s life.

When is jealousy unhealthy?

Jealousy becomes a problem when a person starts destroying relationships by creating tension or suspicion. When a person starts making up stories just to create a mess among people in order for him/ her to get the attention, it’s a sign that it is already unhealthy and harmful.

Ways to Stop Jealousy

When you feel that you are becoming a burden because of your irrational behaviour, you better do something to save yourself. Check some steps to take to stop jealousy.

  • Realize your worth. We are all special in our own ways. We were created to be unique from others and there’s something special about us. You should be the first one to see your worth as a person. You are amazing just the way you are. There’s something about you that others don’t have.
  • Avoid comparisons. Stop comparing yourself from other people. Stop feeling sorry for not having what they have. Things aren’t always what they seem.
  • Avoid jumping into conclusions. Give your partner the benefit of the doubt. Talk to him or her before you think of something malicious.
  • Love yourself. Love yourself for who you are and others will also love you, especially your special someone. Show what is lovable about you.

It takes time before you can fully get over your jealousy. Just be patient enough and you will be a better person and partner.
